July at Silvan was anything but quiet. From roaring lion drama to elusive leopards, and the playful energy of hyena pups, it was a month that reminded us why we love the bush. Let's dive into the highlights of the month shared by our expert guide, Tendai.

Lions
The Nkuhuma pride made several appearances throughout the month, with the standout moment being the Ndzenga males mating with multiple lionesses. A tense altercation between the males and lionesses added further drama to an already riveting sighting.

We also had sightings of the Black Dam and Kruger males as they moved through the area. Not to mention, all four Kambula males who were spotted across both the western and eastern sections, where guests were treated to more romance as they mated with Nkuhuma lionesses.

Leopards
Makomsava greeted us quite often, including a sighting of her with a steenbok kill, which was a bucket list moment many guests dream of witnessing.
Tiyani remained elusive, favouring the Manyeti River and surrounding areas; however, the Tortoise Pan male has been a regular presence, confidently patrolling his territory.

The eastern reaches brought excellent moments with Kuchava and her cubs, as well as brief but exciting encounters with Tlalamba and Tshipondo.

Other Sightings
Buffalo sightings have been particularly rewarding with large herds of moving through the Sabi Sand this month. A few solitary bulls also made regular appearances at nearby watering holes.

Elephant activity was in abundance, with sizeable breeding herds gathering at Serengeti Pan and Big Dam. Many calves were seen among them, creating ample photographic moments and heartwarming experiences.

African wild dogs kept us on our toes as they passed through, often mid-hunt, targeting impala. Meanwhile, at the hyena den, energetic cubs stole the show, always curious, often comical, and a joy to observe.

We were treated to many rhino sightings, too, with a special highlight being mom and calves. These encounters underscored the importance of conservation and the privilege of experiencing these incredible animals in their natural habitat.
